SEO Analyst

We’re looking for a smart, strategic SEO Analyst to help us take our organic search offering to the next level.

SEO is still a pretty new discipline here at Velocity, but the opportunity is huge. With some of the biggest names in B2B on our books, this role gives you the chance not only to execute high-profile SEO campaigns, but also to have a hand in shaping our approach to SEO.

As a Velocity SEO Analyst, you will:

  • Carry out keyword research: You’ll support web builds, positioning projects and SEO growth strategies by putting together comprehensive keyword strategies.
  • Plan and optimise content: You’ll work with our writers to plan and outline pieces for our SEO content strategies, and you’ll work closely with them on things like internal linking, title tags, meta descriptions and other metadata. You’ll also monitor content performance to find pieces that can be improved, refreshed or removed.
  • Run technical audits: Most of our clients need content-driven SEO solutions, but we still need to get the technical foundations right. You’ll run technical audits to identify major issues, and you’ll support our developers, designers and writers on web builds and migrations.
  • Analyse our clients’ backlink profiles: In complex B2B industries, earning relevant backlinks is a major challenge. You’ll analyse our clients’ backlink profiles and feed that data into content plans, so that we’re creating the right kinds of shareable, linkable content.
  • Put together performance reports: Working with our analytics team, you’ll pull together the bulk of our monthly and quarterly performance reports.

What we’d like you to bring to Velocity:

  • At least a year or two of experience growing content-driven, lead-gen websites (ideally within B2B, and ideally agency-side)
  • A modern, innovative attitude to SEO – you know that SEO is about solving problems and creating great experiences, not stuffing keywords
  • An excellent understanding of written content – you won’t be writing content yourself, but you’ll work really closely with our writers to create outstanding content that both promotes our clients’ messaging and solves search queries
  • Solid data analysis skills (particularly Excel/Google Sheets)
  • Experience with the major SEO tools – SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog etc. – and at least an interest in working with NLP and advanced content optimisation tools
  • Strong technical SEO skills – you’ll be comfortable running technical SEO audits, analysing HTML, and preferably have some knowledge of JavaScript SEO
